[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,350,true] Sam was spending an awful lot of time at Flynn's lately. He knew it was because of The Grid. He had tron protecting the users on the inside, but who was out here making sure that everything went alright? He was just glad he'd been able to go home and get a good shower and change of clothing before he had to come right back here. He enjoyed being this close to his father's legacy. He was trying to change the world, just the way his father had wanted. It would be a long time before The Grid was ready to use worldwide, but he had the feeling it would catch on quite quickly. It was hard trying to build a world that could accommodate that many users, but he had Tron... and Clu, begrudgingly, to help with that. He wandered through the crowd at Flynn's, watching people coming out of The Grid, and the people going in. They all seemed pretty excited. He hoped they were having a good time in there, even though there were only select places they were allowed to go right now. Some other people were lounging around the arcade, playing Pac-Man, and Space Invaders, while they waited their turn. Other people looked like they had no idea what they were doing there. The music was pumping through the floor, and he could feel it vibrating at his feet. He hadn't really changed the song selection on the old jukebox. It just seemed wrong. So people were stuck listening to the latest and greatest hits of the eighties while they bummed around his arcade. He stopped at greeted a few people, having casual conversation here and there, but nothing really managed to keep his attention for too long. He was getting anxious. He wanted to just hop in The Grid, but he'd already spent so much time in there. He just needed something to keep him distracted in the real world. He moved over to the bar area. The man behind it was busy serving a strawberry milkshake to a rather pretty girl. Her boyfriend's arm was wrapped around her shoulder, and Sam felt a bit jealous. He didn't even know the girl, so it wasn't about that. It was more about the fact that he didn't have that. Sure, when he was younger, it didn't matter so much, but he was in his 30s now, and all he did every single day was work. It got a bit exhausting. He sat down at the bar and waved to another person working behind it. She smiled at him and asked what he wanted. What he really wanted was for The Grid to become a huge success... the possibilities for what users could accomplish in there were limitless. He assumed, of course, that she meant what he wanted to drink. "I'll just take a coke please." He said with a shrug as his eyes scanned the room. It was getting pretty crowded in there. Everyone seemed to be doing okay enough though. A few minutes passed before the woman handed him his drink. "Thanks." He said, dropping a few dollars into the tip jar before returning to what he'd been doing before, staring at the people in his father's arcade. notes: long-winded and boring introductory post. <3 |
