So this next week, we're going to be making the last changes on the invisionfree site. We are going to keep this site open as an archive of sorts so you can go back and see your posts and other members can see what was going on when we were proboards. If you have any questions on what will be happening between now and that time, please reply to this thread or PM Jura or myself.
There are many reasons why we are switching. Not just because of the free range on posting subjects. I've asked Jura, the new admin on the invisionfree boards!), to tell you what the differences are as she has been around invisionfree more than proboards. She also skinned and set up the board we are going to be using. Everyone give her your love!
FROM JURA-
Members of Fight For The Users,
We understand that to some, such an announcement of moving this site from proboards to invisionfree has come as a shock and have made quite a few of you turned off and disappointed, while to others it seems like a nice and proper choice given certain circumstances. That is why I'd like to take this opportunity to enlighten some of the darker aspects and what seems unclear on this before any decisions are set in stone...
First off, I just want to say that the admins hadn't made this decision based on wanting to play sexual themes. That is not the case. To elaborate on this, the Tron films did not have such acts and although we known certain roleplayers like to dwell and experiment into these types of acts, it's not our priority in this matter of moving. We won't even encourage it. Furthermore, such threads or 'topics' will need to be marked in either the topic title or description as a forewarning that such acts will be roleplayed out so as to inform the reader what to expect. That way if one wasn't allowed to read such things due to parental supervision or just personal choice, you will be warned beforehand and can avoid it without even opening the topic. Think of it as a movie rating stamp on the thread, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17, etc. YOU the member will know and will be able to venture on if you so choose.
Moving on.
There is no age restriction! I have overheard from some of you that age is playing a factor in many people not wanting to make the move. This is something one does not need to worry about, so do keep that in mind. The thing that invisionfree does is allow all types of content - something proboards seems to lack. We do understand that proboards does this for a reason and we respect that greatly, as they are only looking out for their users and who they allow to use their content. We just feel that we don't want our roleplayers to feel restricted in a sense, and it's not proboards fault but the current roleplaying era that is.
Now I'll bring up one of the definitive aspects on why we plan on moving.
More members options, style and content. When I first started roleplaying over six years ago, proboards was the very first forum provider I came across. I grew a fondness for them and stuck with their service for a long time, but as fate would have it; times change and so does roleplaying. I remember back when all people would post were about two sentences, then about a year ago it was all about those two thousand word replies. Now everyone is going to about four hundred to six hundred and people are torn between starting a proboards or invisionfree forum. Each forum has their perks, but to us, we feel that invisionfree just has a little more as far as designing and options go. Proboards is simple and that appeals to a lot of people and we won't argue there, while invisionfree is slightly more advanced. That is something that appeals to us more now that we think about it. In this case, invisionfree allows something known as dohtml in members posts. This means roleplayers can be far more creative with how they approach a topic not just by pictures or font preference, but by personality. There you can be yourself just a little more and go crazy with your creativeness.
We want our members to express themselves, be creative and most of all comfortable with all they can achieve in this world of roleplaying.
I hope this clears up a few things some people are worried or concerned about as I know I didn't go into too much detail here, but like I stated before: The move is not set in stone just yet.
Thankyou, Jura. [/blockquote][/justify]
